Information
-
This A2 Norwegian course is suitable for students who have already completed A1, or who have previous knowledge of Norwegian equivalent to A1 level.
The course is ideal for adults who want to use Norwegian more actively in everyday life, at work, in studies or in social situations. At A2 level, you move beyond basic beginner Norwegian and start communicating more independently in familiar and practical situations.
This course is also relevant if you want to continue preparing for the Norwegian language test at A1–A2 level, or if you need a stronger foundation before progressing to B1.
-
At A2 level, you will learn to communicate more independently about familiar topics and everyday situations. You will build on what you learned at A1 level, with more vocabulary, better sentence structure, more grammar and more speaking practice.
By the end of the course, you will work towards being able to:
- take part in simple conversations about familiar topics
- talk about work, family, free time, health, housing, travel and daily routines
- read and understand short, simple texts
- write simple messages, emails and short texts
- express wishes, needs, feelings and opinions using simple phrases
- understand and use more Norwegian grammar in practice
- improve pronunciation, fluency and confidence when speaking Norwegian
- continue preparing for the Norwegian language test at A1–A2 level
The goal is to help you feel more confident using Norwegian in a wider range of situations and to communicate more naturally and independently than at A1 level.
-
The course combines speaking practice, listening exercises, reading, writing, pronunciation and grammar. You will work with practical tasks that help you use Norwegian in realistic situations from everyday life, work and society.
The course is taught in small groups, usually with 3–6 students. This gives you more speaking time, closer follow-up from the teacher and a safer learning environment than in larger classes.
Your teacher will explain grammar clearly, support you throughout the course and help you correct mistakes so that you gradually become more accurate and confident when using Norwegian.
-
Small groups make it easier to learn Norwegian actively. At A2 level, it is especially important to practise speaking, ask questions and receive personal feedback.
In a small class, you get:
- more time to speak Norwegian in every lesson
- more individual attention from the teacher
- more opportunities to practise pronunciation and conversation
- a safer environment to make mistakes and learn from them
- better progression from A1 towards B1
- more active participation than in larger classes
For many students, this makes the difference between “understanding some Norwegian” and actually using Norwegian in everyday life.
-
Yes. The course helps you develop the language skills needed at A2 level and provides a strong foundation for further preparation for the Norwegian language test at A1–A2 level.
You will work with spoken communication, listening, reading, writing, grammar and practical language use. These are all relevant skills for the Norwegian language test.
However, the course does not guarantee a specific test result. Your progress will depend on your previous knowledge, attendance, personal effort and how much you practise between lessons.
-

Yes. You will receive a course certificate after completing the course, provided that you have at least 80% attendance.
The certificate shows the course level and the number of teaching hours completed. It can be used as documentation for employers, schools, educational institutions or others who need confirmation of completed Norwegian language training.

The A2 course can help you build a stronger language foundation and continue preparing for official Norwegian language tests.
Language Power International AS is an HK-dir approved provider of Norwegian language training, and our course certificates document completed training. However, UDI has its own requirements for permanent residence and Norwegian citizenship, and these requirements often involve passing official tests in Norwegian and social studies.
We therefore recommend checking the latest requirements directly with UDI before applying.
